Guwahati: Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi blasted the alleged purification of a Haldwani venue on Saturday, August 15. The site hosted a meeting featuring party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Gogoi slammed the act as unlawful and deeply objectionable. He claimed the practice exposes the persistent influence of caste discrimination within BJP-RSS ideology.

The move insulted the legacy of B R Ambedkar. It hit the dignity of Dalits hard. Gogoi argued that untouchability remains a daily reality for many citizens eighty years after Independence. This behavior violates the constitution.

Gogoi marched with the Guwahati Metropolitan District Congress on Friday to show support for Kharge. He issued a firm warning following the incident. "Congress will remain steadfast in defending the Constitution, equality, justice and the dignity of every individual," he wrote in an online post.
