Kohima: Four Nagaland University professors just cracked the World’s Top 2% Scientists list. Stanford University researchers built the data based on citation metrics and field impact. Three of these academics also landed a spot on the prestigious Career-Long Top 2% Scientists list.

Prabhakar Sharma from Agricultural Engineering and Technology joins Chemistry professor Ambrish Singh on the list. Joginder Singh of the Botany department and Biotechnology’s Pranav Kumar Prabhakar also received the honor. These researchers cover everything from groundwater management and electrochemistry to plant sciences and microbiology.

The Stanford database uses a composite citation indicator, known as a c-score, to rank experts across 22 scientific fields and 174 sub-fields. It focuses on bibliometric data rather than just one performance metric. This gives a better view of true research impact. Nagaland University Vice-Chancellor Jagadish K Patnaik praised the group on Friday. He stated, "The achievement was a matter of great pride for the university community and reflected the faculty members’ dedication, scholarly excellence and sustained research contributions."

The university expects this to boost their global reputation. Research output continues to grow at the Dimapur-based institution.
