Itanagar: Flash floods slammed into the Yazali circle of Keyi Panyor district after heavy rains lashed the region overnight. The surge destroyed more than 18 residential units near the NEEPCO project. Waters poured into the living quarters after an under-construction retaining wall collapsed.

One woman remains missing. Officials are still verifying reports of potential casualties. The State Disaster Response Force is on the ground while the National Disaster Response Force heads to the area to help.

Local ex-servicemen joined the search efforts. NEEPCO shut down its powerhouse operations and started releasing water from the dam to manage the pressure. Deputy Commissioner Shweta Nagarkoti Mehta said, "efforts to restore normalcy are in progress."

Landslides blocked the highway at three different spots. Commuters are stuck near Potin and Hoj. Contractors are working to clear the debris, but authorities told people to avoid the road to Ziro until further notice.
