Imphal: Twenty-five indigenous communities gathered at the Shumang Leela Shanglen in Imphal today to form a united front aimed at protecting the integrity of Manipur. Organized by the Federation of Haomee, the meeting brought together diverse groups including the Meitei, Tangkhul, Kabui, and Mao, among others, to address growing concerns regarding the state's security.
Federation President Sapamcha Jadumani told reporters that the communities have lost faith in both the state and central governments. He urged the various groups to stand together against external aggression, specifically accusing Kuki populations of encroaching on local territory. Jadumani emphasized that Manipur's land, spanning both the valley and the hills, must be defended through a collective and accountable effort.
The event concluded with a rally around the Palace Compound, where participants voiced their frustration by burning effigies of Kuki National Organization chief PS Haokip and Zomi Revolutionary Army leader Thangliangpau Guite. Chanting slogans like Save Manipur's Integrity, supporters displayed banners declaring their commitment to defend their homeland as a unified force.
