Fed-Up Nagas rebrands as Naga Youth Movement, demands political deal

Kohima: The group formerly known as Fed-Up Nagas has rebranded as the Naga Youth Movement. They want a new identity for their democratic, youth-led push. Leaders sent a formal charter of demands to the Prime Minister and Home Minister through the Nagaland Governor on July 8.

The group demands the government enact the 2015 Framework Agreement and the 2017 Agreed Position. They set a hard three-month deadline to finalize these deals. The movement claims to represent the voice of all Nagas. They say they are not rewriting history but pushing for execution.

Kuhoto Naga addressed the press in Dimapur. He fired back at critics who challenge their legitimacy. "Questions should be directed to those who signed the agreements. If anyone opposes NYM, they are indirectly opposing the agreements," he said.

Leaders Hiketo Naga and Ideizung Naga pushed back against claims that the government secretly funds their operations. They insisted the change from Fed-Up Nagas was about shifting their public image away from aggression. The group wants peace, not more talk. They warned against any individuals collecting donations in their name. They plan to weigh their next moves after the three-month window closes.
