Guwahati: A high-level European Union delegation arrived in Assam on June 8 for a two-day mission to deepen economic cooperation across Northeast India. Led by EU Ambassador Herve Delphin, the group includes senior diplomats and business leaders representing various member states. Upon landing in Guwahati, Delphin praised the region and highlighted his anticipation for upcoming talks with state leadership. "As the slogan says, Gateway to Goodness. I really like this place. I look forward to the meetings we are going to have with the Chief Minister," he said.

The visit focuses on identifying new opportunities in sectors including green energy, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and semiconductor manufacturing. The delegation plans to hold formal discussions with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Simultaneously, the Federation of European Business in India will work with local officials to examine specific trade prospects within Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, and Tripura.

A significant event during the visit is the Blue Valleys workshop, which aims to foster innovation and sustainable industrial chains. This will coincide with the official launch of Assam's first Blue Valley Cluster, a hub designed to integrate research and manufacturing across fragrance, flavor, and food processing industries. By connecting India, Europe, and Bhutan, the initiative seeks to promote sustainable regional development.

The delegates are also scheduled to tour the Tata Electronics semiconductor facility to assess the region's high-tech manufacturing capacity. The visit serves to provide European investors with direct insight into the industrial ecosystem and growing economic potential of Assam.
