Guwahati: European Union Ambassador to India, Herve Delphin, arrived in Guwahati on Monday to lead a high-level Team Europe delegation on a two-day visit. The trip aims to deepen economic cooperation and identify new investment opportunities between the EU and India’s northeastern region.

Delphin, who is visiting Assam for the third time, expressed his enthusiasm for the region upon arrival. "As the slogan says Gateway to Goodness. I really like this place. I look forward to the meetings we are going to have with the CM," he stated. He is scheduled to meet with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to discuss strengthening bilateral ties.

The delegation includes senior diplomats and business leaders who are exploring collaboration across sectors like green energy, sustainable infrastructure, healthcare, and semiconductors. Representatives from the Federation of European Businesses in India will also hold talks to bridge trade gaps.

A major focus of the visit is the launch of the Blue Valley Cluster, an industrial hub dedicated to fragrances, flavours, AYUSH, and food processing. This initiative supports a broader strategy to connect Europe, Northeast India, and Bhutan through sustainable manufacturing. The delegation will also visit the new Tata Electronics semiconductor plant, highlighting the region's emerging importance as a hub for high-tech manufacturing.
