Kohima: Power is out across large sections of Kohima. Equipment failures at the 132/33/11kV RESS Kohima and a busted transformer at the Chiephobozou Sub-Station caused the mess. Bad weather is to blame for the broken gear.

The outages hit Kohima Village, the town center, and the Southern Angami area from Pfuchama to Khuzama. The Northern Angami region and the Pughoboto range also lost power. Current lines are unstable. The department is leaning on a single 33kV feeder from the NU Meriema Sub-Station to keep the lights on for everyone.

This patch job creates a bottleneck. If one line trips, everything goes dark. Transmission Division head Er. Namheu Khate Zeliang said the department is working to fix the gear and return to a normal schedule. He asked residents for patience, stating: "The department said it was making all-out efforts to restore the affected equipment and normalise power supply at the earliest." Crews are working to finish the job soon.
