Kohima: Dimapur could soon become the first NetZero district in India. NetZero Horizon and the Good Shepherd Welfare Society pitched the plan to Governor Nand Kishore Yadav at Lok Bhawan in Kohima on July 11. They want to turn the district into a working model for climate resilience.
A delegation of officials including Deepak Thakur, Rahul Deo, Saurav Kumar, and Imli Yanger Jamir presented the roadmap. The proposal hinges on four specific pillars: energy security, water security, green skilling, and community led governance. The team aims to build a scalable framework for the rest of the country.
Governor Yadav backed the initiative during the meeting. He also agreed to serve as the chief guest for the Grid to Growth event happening August 29 in New Delhi. According to GSWS, the Governor welcomed the proposal and extended his best wishes for its successful implementation.
The project follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for Viksit Bharat 2047. It moves beyond national goals to focus on local, actionable interventions. Planners intend to use stakeholder consultations and pilot projects to strengthen the local economy while hitting long term emission targets.
