Dimapur Police Arrest Third Suspect in POCSO Case

Kohima: Dimapur Police have taken a third suspect into custody regarding a serious criminal case involving the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The arrest follows an investigation into Women Police Station Case number 003/26, which involves multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The authorities identified the suspect as 68-year-old Akangkokba Ao, the son of the late Imsunukshi. Originally from Unger village in the Mokokchung district, Ao was residing in the Residency Colony of Dimapur at the time of his apprehension. The Office of the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur, issued a press note confirming the development. The document stated, "The arrest was made by Dimapur Police on June 7, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the case."

Police continue to process the case under Sections 64(2), 65(1), 71, and 74 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, alongside Section 6 of the POCSO Act. This arrest represents the third person brought into custody as part of the formal legal proceedings.
