Kohima: Eighty-four women representing churches across Dimapur gathered at Hotel Acacia for the Naari Leads Swachhata Faith-Based One-Day Action Summit. Organized by the Dimapur Municipal Council, the event focused on empowering women to lead behavioral changes regarding waste segregation, plastic reduction, and environmental protection within their communities.

The program featured a keynote address by Lensanaro from the municipal council, followed by a presentation from retired Commissioner and Secretary L.H. Thangi Mannen. During her address on Naari Shakti in Swachhata, she emphasized the vital role women play in community-led efforts to build a cleaner and greener society.

Adrian M. Mahung, a waste management consultant for the council, led a practical training session covering the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, home composting techniques, and strategies to minimize plastic waste. Participants received specific training on how to organize awareness initiatives within their local churches and neighborhoods.

To support their efforts, each attendee received a segregation bin and a Swachhata Leader Handbook. These resources are designed to help the women implement lessons through church fellowships and household campaigns. The event ended with a collective pledge from the participants to "champion responsible waste management practices and contribute towards building a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable Dimapur through faith-based community action."
