Kohima: Private hospitals, nursing homes, and clinics across Dimapur, Chümoukedima, and Niuland now face a strict registration mandate. The Office of the Chief Medical Officer issued a directive on Thursday enforcing the Nagaland Health Care Establishments Act, 1997. This rule covers dental clinics, AYUSH centers, and pharmacies that hire doctors for consultations. These pharmacies now operate legally as clinics.
Establishments must secure their license from the competent authority before opening their doors. The CMO office requires owners to apply for renewals at least six months before existing permits expire. This prevents gaps in legal coverage. The directive aims to improve patient safety and maintain quality standards across the region.
Non-compliance carries heavy weight. The official notice warned: "Non-compliance, the notice said, will invite action as per the Act and the rules framed thereunder." Owners seeking registration forms or further information should visit the Department of Health and Family Welfare in Nagaland or contact the CMO office during regular working hours.
