Guwahati: Dibrugarh officials are cracking down on electric auto traffic. District Commissioner Bikram Kairi ordered new rules to unclog city streets and boost road safety. Major construction work on the Mancotta Road Railway Overbridge and the upcoming Amulapatty Flyover has choked local transit.

Only EV autos registered within the Dibrugarh Municipal Corporation limits or within a five-kilometer radius can operate inside city bounds. This includes the Assam Medical College and Hospital campus. Owners must register their vehicles between June 29 and July 4. Officials will host free registration camps at the DMC office, the MJBT, the ASTC campus, and the DTO.

You can only register one vehicle per owner. Every applicant must provide a vehicle number, contact details, driving licenses, and their charging station location. Authorities will use this data to finalize new city operations. The Regional Transport Authority decided on these measures during a June 10 meeting. Officials stated the move follows "Supreme Court directions" regarding safety and traffic flow. The DMC must finish the registration work and submit a report by July 6.
