Guwahati: Three con artists posing as plainclothes officers robbed a schoolteacher in Dhubri, Assam. They made off with gold jewelry valued at 4 lakh rupees on Monday. The daylight heist occurred on A.K. Azad Road around 11:45 a.m. Jotsna Begum, 59, was walking home from a pharmacy when the men cornered her.

The suspects claimed a murder happened nearby and warned her that wearing valuables was dangerous. To sell the ruse, a third man joined the group and handed over his own jewelry to the fake officers. This accomplice urged Begum to follow suit, telling her, "the officers were only trying to ensure her safety."

She surrendered a gold necklace and three bangles. The men grabbed the haul and bolted before she could call for help. Begum contacted her son, and they filed an official complaint at the Dhubri Sadar Police Station. Investigators are currently reviewing CCTV footage from local businesses to track down the trio.
