Guwahati: Dhubri Sadar Police dismantled a suspected motorcycle theft ring this week, leading to the arrest of two individuals and the recovery of various stolen goods. The operation began after authorities received a report concerning a motorcycle stolen from the Panchmore area of Dhubri town on June 8.

Led by Officer-in-Charge Pritam Das, the investigation traced the stolen vehicle to the residence of Sajid Rousan in Jhagrarpar Part-III. Police apprehended Rousan at his home, where he reportedly confessed to the crime and implicated an accomplice named Rafikul Islam of Aironjongla Part-III.

A subsequent raid at Islam's property resulted in the seizure of a significant cache of items. Among the recovered goods were two motorcycles, one of which had a tampered chassis number, three bicycles, water pumps, bronze utensils, and 14,300 rupees in cash. Police identified Islam as a habitual offender who is likely involved in multiple theft cases throughout the area.

Authorities have processed all seized items and registered a formal case against the pair. Regarding the ongoing efforts, police stated, "Efforts are continuing to identify additional suspects and trace the owners of the recovered stolen property." Investigators are now working to determine if the suspects are connected to a broader inter-district criminal network.
