Imphal: CRPF soldiers pulled two civilians from the edge of a deep gorge on Tuesday evening. The rescue happened on National Highway-2 near Changoubung Village in Manipur. The car, an A-Star model, veered off the main road at about 7:30 p.m. due to ongoing construction work.

Troops from the 112 Battalion were heading home after a long shift when they spotted the wreck. The car teetered on the brink of the steep drop. The team acted fast. They used ropes and brute strength to anchor the vehicle before dragging it back onto the tarmac.

The two occupants, including Leishiyo Naga, are from Senapati district. They suffered only minor injuries. Officials noted that the "timely rescue operation prevented the vehicle from falling into the gorge." No deaths occurred during the ordeal.
