Imphal: Churachandpur police issued a stern warning to village chiefs, headmen, and residents today. Stop growing illegal poppies. Authorities promise arrests and prosecution for anyone caught breaking the law. They are tightening the net across Manipur's hill districts.

Officials plan to seize and forfeit any properties tied to these illicit operations. The district police clarified the stakes in a recent statement: "Illegal crops are liable to seizure and destruction."

Under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act of 1985, poppy farming carries heavy penalties. Police are now pushing village leaders and locals to report suspicious fields to the nearest police station, district administration office, or Central Armed Police Forces post. Cooperation is mandatory. They want these crops gone for good.
