Kohima: Chozuba officials just pulled the plug on single-use plastics. Additional Deputy Commissioner Zapuno Khatso issued an immediate order banning the items across the Chozuba sub-division. The town council expects full compliance from every resident and business owner starting today.
The sweep covers everything from thin carry bags to plastic cutlery, plates, and straws. Styrofoam decorations and nylon materials are also off the table. The administration is cracking down on departments and institutions as well. They have banned flex banners, posters, and boards used for government functions. This applies to all PVC banners thinner than 100 microns.
The list of restricted goods is long. It includes ear buds, balloon sticks, candy sticks, and wrapping films on sweet boxes. You cannot bring packaged water bottles under 20 litres to meetings or seminars anymore. The ADC wants clean streets. Khatso stated the move aims at "reaffirming the administration’s commitment to environmental protection and sustainable waste management." Authorities warned they will strictly enforce these rules across the entire region.
