C-NES Mourns Death of Intellectual Niketu Iralu

Kohima: The Centre for North East Studies and Policy Research (C-NES) is mourning the death of Niketu Iralu. He was a distinguished intellectual and a founding board member of the organization. Staff and trustees remembered him as a man of deep insight and compassion. His work significantly impacted Naga society and the broader discourse on Northeast history and human dignity.

Iralu guided C-NES for years. His friendship with Managing Trustee Sanjoy Hazarika remained a pillar for the group. He provided steady leadership that inspired generations. His death creates a massive loss for those who knew him. "His passing leaves a profound void—not only in the lives of his family and loved ones, but also among the many people, institutions and organisations like ours who had the privilege of knowing and learning from him," the organization said in an August 24 statement.

C-NES sent condolences to Iralu's wife Christine, son Kevipulie, and daughter Kelasino. They also reached out to his extended family, friends, and the Naga community. The organization expects his legacy of service and humanity to persist as a source of strength.
