Bishnupur Police Seize Heroin and Heavy Cache of Explosives

Imphal: Bishnupur district police arrested two men for drug trafficking and uncovered a massive stash of weapons on August 29. The crackdown occurred during two distinct operations in the region.

Officers stopped Md Amir Khan, 34, and Md Bungo, 33, during a routine security check near the Sericulture Training center under the Phougakchao Ithai police station. The search yielded 53 grams of Heroin No. 4 packed inside five soap cases. Police seized the suspects' Suzuki Burgman Street 125cc scooter. The department confirmed the arrest, stating: "Further investigation is underway."

In a separate sweep, a joint team of local police and security forces raided an area near a water supply pump on Keipha Road Patton. They pulled a lethal inventory from the ground. The haul included a 9mm pistol, a .32 pistol, a country-made AK rifle, a country-made MP-9, a single-barrel shotgun, and a .22 rifle, all equipped with magazines.

Authorities also secured two No. 36 hand grenades and two improvised explosive devices. The team recovered various rounds of ammunition and associated weapon accessories from the site.
