Bihar and Meghalaya Legislative Committees Meet in Shillong

Shillong: A delegation from the Bihar Legislative Assembly Committee on Subordinate Legislation visited Shillong on Monday to exchange operational knowledge with their Meghalaya counterparts. Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Thomas A Sangma chaired the meeting, which focused on the procedural frameworks and administrative mechanisms used by the two state bodies.

The Bihar delegation was headed by Committee Chairman Manohar Prasad Singh. Representing Meghalaya were Committee Chairman Gavin Miguel Mylliem alongside members Dr. Mizanur Rahman Kazi and Damanbait Lamare. The discussion allowed members to compare how subordinate legislation committees function within their respective state houses.

Reflecting on the visit, Speaker Thomas A Sangma called the dialogue both productive and insightful. He added that the visiting team "appreciated the practices adopted by the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly." Other attendees included Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Secretary Malthus S. Sangma and various state officials.
