Guwahati: A Bangladeshi citizen has surrendered to the District Judge’s Court in the Sribhumi district of Assam after crossing into India illegally. Identified as Din Islam Sheikh, a resident of Barguni village in the Gopalganj upazila, the man reportedly gained entry into the country with the assistance of a broker known as Rugby.

After entering India, Sheikh traveled to Guwahati and eventually reached Silchar by train. He claims to have lost contact with his broker during the journey. Upon reaching Sribhumi, he sought help from the local court under the impression that judicial intervention would provide a legal pathway back to Bangladesh.

A lawyer representing the District Legal Services Authority noted that the individual specifically approached legal authorities in hopes of securing a formal return. Following his appearance, the court remanded him to police custody. Authorities are still working to determine the specific border route he used to enter the country. Police intend to bring him back before the court as they proceed with standard legal actions based on judicial directives.
