Guwahati: AIUDF chief and Binnakandi MLA Badruddin Ajmal ripped into a parliamentary panel proposal on July 13. The recommendation suggests suspending prime ministers and chief ministers who spend 30 days in judicial custody instead of removing them. Ajmal claims the move protects politicians rather than holding them accountable.
He questioned the real motive behind the plan. Lawmakers avoid writing rules that hurt their own interests. "All of them are thieves. No one will hang anyone. No one will make laws against anyone. This is a business of fooling people," Ajmal said. He argues that the system keeps itself safe from consequences.
Ajmal also blasted the current state of governance. He alleges that over 65 percent of parliamentarians face criminal cases. The AIUDF leader warned that the lawmakers responsible for punishment will never target their own kind.
Beyond the suspension debate, Ajmal accused the BJP of exploiting the Uniform Civil Code for electoral leverage. He stated that the party pushes the policy specifically to chase Hindu votes before the upcoming UP elections. He expects no real results from these government efforts.
