Guwahati: Assam has made significant strides in its public health efforts, with more than 107,000 girls receiving the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine. The ongoing campaign aims to curb cervical cancer rates by providing critical preventative care to the state's young population.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the progress update on X, noting that the state has set an ambitious target to reach 327,000 girls. He emphasized that the initiative represents a broader commitment to securing the health and future of young women in Assam.

The government views this vaccination drive as a vital step toward a cervical cancer-free future. Addressing the importance of the program, Sarma stated, "The daughters of Assam deserve the opportunity to pursue their dreams without barriers, including preventable diseases."

By prioritizing this preventative measure, officials hope to improve long-term health outcomes for children throughout the state. The project remains a central component of the government's current strategy to strengthen local health infrastructure.
