Guwahati: A mathematics teacher at Matrix Senior Secondary School in Assam's Nagaon district triggered a protest after insulting his students. Parents and students converged on the school campus to confront teacher Prashanta Bora over his behavior. Tensions spiked following his derogatory comments about youth from the Kathiatoli area.
Bora allegedly singled out Kathiatoli students, including those from the Tiwa community. He made a inflammatory claim, stating, "99 per cent of students from Kathiatoli are alcoholics and consume cannabis" while further advising against marriage with local boys. The remarks infuriated the community.
Aggrieved families demanded an immediate explanation for the offensive insults. Faced with the angry crowd, Bora admitted his error and issued a public apology for the statements. Locals remain concerned about the conduct of educators and the damaging impact such language has on students and the wider community.
