Kohima: The Assam Rifles staged a cycle rally at Chieswema Garrison in Nagaland on August 16. The event extended Independence Day celebrations under the national Fit India Movement’s Sundays on Cycle banner. It moved fast.
The ride kicked off from the garrison helipad and spanned roughly 5 km inside the base. Soldiers, their families, and children took part in the trek. The PRO HQ IGAR (North) confirmed the turnout in a press statement.
Organizers pushed the event to bolster physical fitness and encourage cycling as a daily habit. The ride brought troops and their relatives together to build bonds within the service community. The Assam Rifles stated that "such initiatives are intended to promote health and wellness, encourage regular physical activity and strengthen community engagement in line with the national Fit India campaign."
This program seeks to bake cycling into everyday routines. It marks a push for a healthier lifestyle across the ranks.
