Kohima: Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) landed at the Dan Company Operating Base on August 25. He spent the day reviewing operational readiness and troop welfare. He walked the lines. The visit focused on the force’s security posture along the border.
The commander met with the Village Council and local civil society groups to talk shop. Residents pushed for a paved road running from the RCC Bridge to the base. They also demanded solar-powered street lights. The IGAR promised to pitch these requests to the proper authorities to get the ball rolling.
Talk turned to the contentious border fence. Locals shared their worries. The IGAR explained the security math behind the project but pledged to keep residents in the loop. He stated, "The views of the community would be appropriately taken into account."
This visit served to tighten the grip between the military and the people. The Assam Rifles claim they remain dedicated to both regional security and local growth. Officials left the area hoping to keep the peace.
