Agartala: Security forces intercepted a Mahindra XUV500 carrying 50,000 Yaba tablets in Tripura's Mungiakami area on Saturday. The joint operation between Assam Rifles and the Customs Department netted contraband valued at Rs 5 crore.

Intelligence reports tipped off the team. When the vehicle stopped, the driver bolted into a nearby civilian area. He vanished. Authorities searched the SUV and found the massive haul of narcotics.

Officials confirmed the seizure, noting that "the seized narcotic substance and the vehicle have been handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation and legal action."

No one is in custody yet. Investigators are hunting for the runaway driver while tracking where the drugs came from and where they were heading.
