Guwahati: Protesters swarmed the Bidyapur Police Outpost in Assam’s Bongaigaon district on Tuesday, August 18. They demanded results. The All Assam Sutradhar Students’ Association led the charge, accusing local police of negligence in the hunt for a missing Class 11 student.
Juri Sutradhar has been gone for 13 days. The girl, daughter of Shipul and Sandhyarani Sutradhar, vanished on August 6 while heading out to grab an application form for the Nijut Moina scheme. She studies at Basugaon Senior Secondary School over in the neighboring Chirang district.
Her family filed an FIR at the Bidyapur Police Outpost on August 7. Nothing happened. Frustrated by the lack of progress, the students’ group surrounded the building to force an update. The group demanded that the police "intensify the search and trace the missing student at the earliest."
The clock is ticking. Eleven days have passed since the initial report, yet investigators have failed to find a single lead. The demonstrators insisted on immediate action from the authorities to track down Juri.
