Guwahati: Assam Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika held a meeting in Guwahati this week to prep for an upcoming Agricultural Infrastructure Fund event. The gathering hits the city on July 18. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will headline the session, which expects to draw over 5,000 farmers from every corner of the state.

Hazarika spent the session checking logistical plans and firming up the rollout for the state infrastructure program. The scheme helps farmers and agri-entrepreneurs land institutional credit to build, expand, or fix post-harvest facilities. Officials highlighted the push for better value chains and higher pay for local growers.

Eligible farmers get a 3 per cent interest subvention through the fund. The state aims to stir up heavy investment in the sector. During the meeting, Hazarika focused on measures to "ensure the effective implementation of the Agricultural Infrastructure Fund scheme." This initiative works to boost income across the state by modernizing how crops are managed after the harvest.
