Assam police seize narcotics worth Rs 2.5 crore in Barpeta

Guwahati: Police in Assam have seized a significant haul of narcotics and Yaba tablets with an estimated street value of Rs 2.5 crore. The operation took place in the Howly area of Barpeta district, where officers intercepted a truck based on specific intelligence.

Authorities discovered the illegal substances hidden within a specially modified compartment inside the vehicle. The truck, registered as AS 01 TC 6890, was traveling from Dimapur toward Kokrajhar when it was stopped by police at Kaljhar along National Highway 27.

The truck driver, Akkas Ali, was taken into custody at the scene. Barpeta Superintendent of Police Pushkin Jain and other senior officials oversaw the operation. Investigators are now working to uncover further connections within the broader drug trafficking network.
