Guwahati: Assam Women and Child Development Minister Ajanta Neog toured a major welfare project in Boko on Sunday. The site at Bongaon Camp will house seniors and children. It ranks as the second largest facility of its kind in Asia. Work costs 82.58 crore rupees.

The project nears its finish line. It should open within three months. Neog checked the construction progress with department officials to ensure the site meets standards for vulnerable residents. She emphasized the specialized nature of the building project.

"The Child Care Centre has been planned with separate accommodation for different age groups to ensure children receive care and support suited to their developmental needs," Neog told reporters. The facility aims to bolster state social welfare by grouping essential medical and residential services in one location.

The Old Age Home will feature dedicated medical equipment. Staff will provide full healthcare services to the elderly. Officials expect the integrated campus to offer a safe environment for those who need it most.
