Guwahati: BJP lawmaker Manab Deka went on the offensive Monday, blaming the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya for Guwahati’s chronic flooding. He hiked five kilometers through water near Jorabat to document the mess. He walked from Jorabat to see the damage for himself.

Deka claims the university built a dangerous water bomb that puts residents at risk. He labeled the situation flood terrorism. The MLA said, "USTM is preparing a water bomb. That water bomb will destroy Guwahati."

The legislator plans to take the school to court. He claims to have photos and videos ready to serve as evidence for his case. Deka wants quick action from the authorities to stop the threat.

The criticism spilled over into local politics. Deka slammed the Congress party for its ties to the institution. He claimed, "Congress and USTM are like siblings. There is a close relationship between Congress and USTM owner Mahbubul Hoque." Neither the university nor Congress replied to the claims.
