Guwahati: Assam Minister Charan Boro, who oversees the Transport and Welfare of Bodoland departments, led a review meeting in Mushalpur on Wednesday to evaluate the status of government development projects in Baksa district. The session brought together local MLAs, Bodoland Territorial Council members, and senior district administrators to examine the current implementation of key initiatives.
The minister assessed the progress of major welfare programs, including the Orunodoi scheme and the Chief Minister’s Atmanirbhar Asom Abhijan. Discussions also covered infrastructure developments like the Vibrant Village Programme and Asom Darshan, alongside a broad look at the status of regional road networks, transport services, and the local healthcare system.
Given the district's vulnerability to seasonal disasters, Boro placed special emphasis on flood readiness. He reviewed relief resources, emergency response protocols, and the availability of highlands for livestock protection. The meeting also addressed the recurring issue of human-elephant conflict, focusing on strategies such as bio-fencing and the installation of solar electric barriers to protect both communities and wildlife.
Addressing the gathering, the minister committed to consistent oversight of these ongoing efforts. Boro stated, "Regular review meetings would be conducted to closely monitor the implementation of development projects and government schemes." He added that he plans to conduct upcoming field visits to verify the actual ground-level progress of these welfare initiatives across the district.
