Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma officially launched the Blue Valley Cluster at an event in Guwahati this week. The launch occurred during a two-day visit by a delegation of European Union diplomats and corporate leaders, collectively known as Team Europe, led by EU Ambassador to India Herve Delphin.

The Blue Valley Cluster is designed as a specialized industrial hub focusing on food processing, fragrances, flavors, and AYUSH products. Operating under a public-private-people partnership model, the facility aims to bridge academic and commercial networks between European markets, Northeast India, and Bhutan. This initiative stems from the Blue Valleys framework established at the 2026 EU-India Summit to foster small business growth and sustainable market pipelines.

During the visit, the delegation explored collaboration across several high-growth sectors including green energy, semiconductors, electronics, healthcare, and pharmaceuticals. The group is also scheduled to visit India’s first semiconductor plant currently under construction in the Morigaon district. These efforts aim to position Northeast India as a key destination for international investment and industrial development.

Sarma highlighted the potential for deeper ties between the region and Europe during the discussions. Regarding the meetings, the Chief Minister noted, "We exchanged notes on the advantages Assam can offer in strengthening Indo-EU linkages under the leadership of Adarniya Narendra Modi ji." The visit concluded with a seminar titled Blue Valleys: Building Ecosystems and Value Chains Between India and Europe, where stakeholders discussed strategies for enhancing supply-chain logistics and sustainable industrial growth.
