Guwahati: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya visited the permanent campus of Sri Sri Aniruddhadeva Sports University in Chabua, Dibrugarh district, on Wednesday, July 15. He inspected ongoing construction and ordered the Public Works Department to pick up the pace. Work must move faster. Acharya wants the site ready for students to start using better academic and sports facilities soon.
The Governor expects the institution to become a national leader in sports education. During a review meeting at the university city campus, Vice-Chancellor Prof Hirendra Nath Sarma outlined current academic plans and infrastructure status. Acharya told the Vice-Chancellor to coordinate closely with the Public Works Department and local district administration to clear any roadblocks.
Beyond standard facilities, the Governor requested a feasibility study for a dedicated Yoga centre to blend physical training with wellness. He wants monthly progress reports sent to Lok Bhavan for oversight. "The university has the potential to emerge as one of the country's leading sports institutions," Acharya said. He warned that the project must finish without any unnecessary delays.
