Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet has announced a 2 percent increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) and Dearness Relief (DR), raising the total rate from 58 percent to 60 percent. This policy change takes effect in July and is expected to provide financial relief to more than eight lakh state government employees and pensioners.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma shared the update on social media, emphasizing that the adjustment aims to support those helping the state grow. Regarding the decision, Sarma stated, "Our employees and pensioners are valued partners in Assam's growth story. To further support them, the Assam Cabinet has approved a 2% increase in DA and DR, taking it from 58% to 60% from this July. We remain committed to their welfare and wellbeing."

The government designed this increase to offer better financial stability in the face of climbing living expenses. By boosting these payments, officials aim to bolster employee welfare and strengthen social security for the state workforce.
