Guwahati: Assam is pushing its youth into the global job market. Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Baruah laid out the plan during the July 10 budget session in the Assam Legislative Assembly. The government will provide up to Rs 1.5 lakh for individuals seeking training in English, German, and other foreign tongues.

The expansion of the Chief Minister’s Foreign Language Initiative for Global Human Talent, or CM-FLIGHT, targets better overseas employment. It covers preparation costs for international work. Baruah stated the scheme will help locals "acquire skills required for international careers."

The state is also launching an Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics and Extended Reality policy. This AVGC-XR push looks to grow a local workforce for the creative tech sector. Officials want to turn the state into a hub for digital workers. These twin initiatives aim to sharpen competitive edges and secure future roles in the global economy.
