Shillong: The A·chik State People’s Front (ASPF) Gambegre regional unit filed a formal complaint Monday against the Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL). They targeted the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of the Dalu Sub-Division, citing persistent power cuts in villages like Bolori, Dikkimpara, and Jebalgre.
Residents face constant outages throughout the day. Conditions worsen at night when the power grid fails over ten times. The organization documented these grievances in an official letter to the SDO, demanding immediate action to stabilize the local electrical supply. “Ia songrango salsaba bijoliko name man·rongja aro uandaken salni bakoba changni chang bijoli sirongenga. Walni somoirangosa obostarang namjabatronga maina walode chang 10 batpilen bijoli sirongenga,” the ASPF stated.
Frequent outages disrupt local business owners and trade. Students bear the heaviest burden. Frequent blackouts hinder their ability to study, directly impacting their academic performance. The ASPF warned the SDO that if the power situation does not improve soon, residents will be forced to launch protests to demand better service.
