Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government promoted Inspector Dumgandu Singpho to Deputy Superintendent of Police. The Home Department issued the notification on July 29, backdating the move to July 23, 2026. Singpho is one of 10 Civil Police Inspectors moving into the Arunachal Pradesh Police Service following a Departmental Promotion Committee recommendation.
A native of Dirak Na village in Changlang district, Singpho currently serves as the officer-in-charge at Sunpura Police Station in Lohit district. Before his police career began, he worked as a government school teacher. He has built a reputation leading anti-narcotics raids throughout eastern Arunachal Pradesh.
Namsai Superintendent of Police Sange Thinley praised the promotion. He labeled Singpho as “a very determined and diligent officer” while noting his success in breaking up narcotics networks in Namsai. Thinley added that he recognized Singpho's work ethic back when they both served in Tezu.
Singpho thanked his superiors and the public for his career path. “This promotion is the result of the effective mentorship of my senior officers, the blessings of my community, and the trust and cooperation extended by the people in the areas where I have served across eastern Arunachal Pradesh,” he said. The Singpho Youth Organisation of India, the All Bordumsa Singpho Students’ Union, and the Singpho Development Society all celebrated the news as a major milestone for their community.
