Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Police has kicked off Muskaan 2.0. The second phase of this child protection initiative aims to tighten safety nets in the East Siang district. It now pulls parents and teachers directly into the fold. Success drove this expansion.
The first phase ran from October 2025 to March 2026. The Police Ki Pathshala outreach campaign hit 104 schools. It reached 16,897 students. Home Minister Mama Natung backed the effort. "The first phase reached nearly 16,897 students across 104 schools, creating greater awareness and empowering young minds to stay safe," Natung said. Actor and Child Safety Ambassador Chum Darang also supported the mission.
Lessons covered critical ground. Students learned about bodily autonomy, the POCSO Act, cyber safety, and anti-bullying measures. The program yielded hard results. Police installed complaint boxes at every school. They resolved 45 non-POCSO issues through counseling. Regular police visits led to three POCSO cases moving to court. The state child rights commission praised the work.
The force itself leveled up. Officers finished 10 training sessions on child-friendly policing. Students toured Ane’s Home at the Women Police Station. They also practiced using emergency systems like Dial 112, Childline 1098, and the Police Control Room.
East Siang Superintendent of Police Pankaj Lamba intends to widen the net. Muskaan 2.0 uses Parent-Teacher Meetings to educate adults on their legal roles. Teams will monitor school complaint boxes to ensure grievances do not go ignored. The project brings families and police together.
