Itanagar: Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona wants the All Nyishi Students’ Union to drop its 12-hour bandh planned for September 24. Sona met with union leaders to discuss three major demands regarding education infrastructure in Nyishi-populated regions. He wants the strike gone. The minister explained the government’s position during the talks but noted that no formal resolution was signed.
The Education Department laid out an action-taken report during the sit-down. Officials submitted several infrastructure proposals to the Planning Department already. Sona claims that out of 26 total requirements, over half are currently ready or moving through the pipeline. These include hostels, undergraduate blocks, staff quarters, and boundary walls. Construction happens in phases. Progress depends on funding and availability.
Sona stated, “The remaining demands, he said, would be examined in consultation with the Planning Department and other concerned departments, particularly with regard to funding and convergence.” He wants more dialogue to address needs across every district and community in Arunachal Pradesh. He urged the student group to reconsider the protest based on the ongoing government efforts.
