Agartala: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Tripura on June 5 to assess security along the India-Bangladesh border. The trip is part of a broader multi-state tour designed to evaluate ground-level preparedness, surveillance, and infrastructure across both western and eastern frontiers. While final scheduling is still being confirmed by state officials, the visit aims to address ongoing challenges such as illegal crossings and smuggling across the 856-kilometer border.
During his time in Tripura, Shah will likely review the status of barbed wire fencing and security systems. He is expected to meet with members of the Border Security Force, state police, and local administration to improve inter-agency coordination. The visit reflects a government focus on gathering operational feedback from personnel to guide national policy and reinforce surveillance in sensitive areas.
The wider tour begins on the night of May 25 with a trip to Rajasthan, where the minister will visit a post along the India-Pakistan border to interact with troops and inaugurate new welfare initiatives. Following a stop in Bhuj, Gujarat, on May 29, he will continue his inspections in West Bengal by mid-June. These engagements are intended to strengthen infrastructure and ensure that security measures effectively respond to regional threats.
