Guwahati: AAGSU-backed candidates claimed the two major leadership spots in the 2026-27 Digboi College Students Union election. Anuj Upadhyay secured the presidency, while Chhabilal Sharma won the race for general secretary. Both men defeated opponents supported by the All Assam Students Union by wide margins.
Voting occurred only for these top positions. Five other roles went uncontested. Abhishek Prajapati became vice-president, and Paban Chetry took the minor games secretary post. Tanisha Upadhyay won debate secretary, Bompi Gamlin claimed major games secretary, and Anannya Dutta Sharma was named girls common room secretary.
Supporters held a victory rally from the college gate to Digboi town. District leaders later honored the new representatives. The group included Suman Chetry, Shankar Jaisy, Khem Bahadur Chetry, Mohan Chetry, Sibu Chetry, and Jun Pradhan.
The union officials delivered a clear message to the winners. They told the students to "use their mandate responsibly, remain accessible to students and work across organisational lines for academic welfare, campus discipline and the interests of the student community."
