Agartala: Advocate Bishwajit Debbarma died Tuesday night following a head-on collision in the Betchara area. The 32-year-old lawyer from Nepal Tilla was riding his motorcycle when he struck a Bolero packed with pineapples. Locals rushed the critically injured man to Kumarghat Sub-Divisional Hospital. Staff referred him to Kailashahar District Hospital as his health failed. He died on arrival at North Tripura District Hospital in Dharmanagar.
His death devastated the Kailashahar legal community. MLA Paul Dangshu, a childhood friend of the victim, visited the site but offered no comments. Dharmanagar Police opened an investigation into the wreck. They sent the body for a post-mortem exam before releasing it to his family.
The tragedy sparked outrage over medical standards. Family members and colleagues reached the morgue only to find it deserted. They had to unlock the doors and start the air-conditioning units themselves to keep the remains preserved. One person stated, "His passing was described as an irreparable loss to the profession."
Residents and lawyers now demand a full accounting of these failures. They want answers on road safety enforcement and healthcare administration. Officials promised to share more details once forensic and eyewitness reports arrive.
