Aizawl: Volunteers from the Young Lai Association stopped 10 pickup trucks in Lawngtlai on Tuesday, October 13. The group, which serves as the largest civil society organization in the Lai Autonomous District Council area, pulled the vehicles over in the AOC Veng locality. They handed the trucks to authorities between 2 pm and 3 pm. Suspicions remain high that the vehicles were headed for sale in Myanmar.

This move follows a recent meeting held by the Lawngtlai deputy commissioner. Officials gathered to address a spike in vehicle thefts and illegal transport through the district. Attendees reported that vehicles were passing through Lawngtlai to reach the border. Some claims suggest new cars are being moved across the international line using forged or fraudulent documents. Officials warned that such acts are clear violations of the law. They explicitly stated, "stricter monitoring and increased vigilance to curb suspected vehicle smuggling" are now required in the region.

Lawngtlai shares a border with Myanmar. Investigators are still working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the trucks. The interception marks a firm response to ongoing security worries in the district.
