Shillong: The VPP Youth Wing escalated its fight with the ruling NPP on Tuesday. They used the NEET controversy to dredge up past recruitment scandals, specifically targeting East Shillong MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh. The group vowed to audit all current state government appointments to ensure fairness.
Marbud Dkhar, president of the VPP State Youth Wing, dismissed claims that his party exploited NEET protests in New Delhi for political leverage. He insisted the trip served as a show of solidarity against police crackdowns and systemic testing failures. Dkhar stated, “We did not go to Delhi for political advantage.”
Dkhar pivoted the attack to Lyngdoh’s past ministerial record. He reminded the public of the white-ink recruitment scandal that occurred while she served as Education Minister. He also blamed her tenure as Agriculture Minister for current hardships facing local farmers.
The VPP slammed the NPP for staying silent on the treatment of student protesters in the national capital. The party is now sharpening its focus on internal governance. Dkhar announced plans to ramp up oversight of state recruitment, citing reports of opaque hiring practices across various departments.
