Shillong: Venezuela's Acting President Delcy Rodriguez arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday to begin a five-day diplomatic visit aimed at strengthening ties between the two nations. Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed the arrival, noting that the trip seeks to build on the existing momentum in the bilateral partnership.

During her stay, Rodriguez will meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss the full scope of India-Venezuela relations. The talks will focus on expanding cooperation across critical sectors including energy security, trade, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and renewable energy. The Ministry of External Affairs emphasized that India remains an essential partner for Venezuela, specifically citing significant investments by Indian public sector undertakings in the South American nation's energy industry.

The Acting President is traveling with a delegation of ministers covering foreign affairs, economy, technology, and transportation. The group plans to tour several industrial and technological sites to evaluate potential collaborative opportunities in the automotive and pharmaceutical sectors.

This marks Rodriguez's sixth visit to India, following previous trips made during her tenures as Foreign Minister and Vice President. Both governments maintain a shared commitment to the Global South, with officials viewing this visit as a key step in deepening engagement across diverse economic areas.
