Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia Reviews Key Infrastructure Projects During Sikkim Visit

Gangtok: Union Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, recently concluded a comprehensive three-day visit to Sikkim, where he reviewed several vital development projects. Upon his arrival in Namchi district, Scindia received a Guard of Honour from the India Reserve Battalion at the Temi Bungalow before commencing his official engagements.

During his visit to Sikkim State University, the Minister evaluated infrastructure advancements funded by the North Eastern Council. He toured campus facilities, including new gymnasium and sports amenities, while stressing the necessity of preserving the local environment and integrating greenery into educational spaces. His commitment to regional development also extended to the sports sector, where he attended a Sikkim Premier League semi-final at Bhaichung Stadium, affirming the Ministry’s dedication to enhancing athlete development and sports infrastructure.

Scindia further focused on the tourism and agricultural sectors by inspecting the renowned Temi Tea Estate. He engaged with estate workers and women tea pluckers while assessing the tea processing facilities. At the Indian Himalayan Centre for Adventure and Eco-Tourism in Chemchey, he reviewed infrastructure and training programs dedicated to mountaineering, rock climbing, and cycling.

The Minister also conducted site inspections at the Buddha Park in Ravangla and the Bhaley Dhunga Skywalk project in Yangang. Officials confirmed that the ambitious 240-metre circular glass skywalk, situated at an altitude of 3,200 metres, is positioned to become one of the highest structures of its kind globally upon completion.
