Gangtok: Union Minister for Development of North Eastern Region and Communications, Jyotiraditya Scindia, arrived in Sikkim today for a three-day official visit. His itinerary focuses on assessing critical infrastructure, tourism developments, and connectivity projects across the Himalayan state. After landing at Bagdogra Airport, the Minister traveled to Namchi in South Sikkim to begin his scheduled engagements.
On May 15, Scindia is slated to visit the Temi Tea Garden, the state's only tea estate and a major tourism site. He will also inspect the Bhaleydunga Ropeway Project in Yangang to review its construction progress before attending the Sikkim Premier League at Bhaichung Stadium. His afternoon will include a visit to Orchidium in Gangtok, a cultural site recently showcased by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The final day of his visit, May 16, will see the Minister travel to the strategic Indo-China border at Nathula Pass. During this visit, he will inspect newly constructed acclimatisation centres at Hangu Lake and 17th Mile, which serve as essential facilities for pilgrims undertaking the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra. Additionally, he will review progress on a major parking project at Nathula designed to house 1,000 vehicles and mitigate regional traffic congestion. Scindia will conclude his visit in Gangtok by serving as the Guest of Honour during the 51st State Day celebrations.
